Boxycharm Unboxing – December Edition

Happy Holidays!

‘Tis the end of the year and we can finally say – Adios, 2017!!! I am especially optimistic for 2018, as 2017 started out with me sick in the bed for nearly a month and continued to get sick throughout the entire year. So here’s to a better, healthier year in 2018!!

For those that are not already familiar, Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription service that cost $21.00 each month for 5 full size products. And what’s even better is that each month it is a guarantee you will receive a retail value for over $100.00 per box! This month’s box theme is ‘Glitz & Glam’ and is definitely giving me the winter-wonderland vibe. If you are interested in seeing the previous boxes, go check out Boxycharm’s site or click here to see my November post!

Check out the 5 beauty products I received this month below:

Tarte Cosmetics – Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
$23.00

“A jet-black, vegan mascara that has a molded brush that grabs and coats even the tiniest lashes for 2700% more volume”

This is not a new product for me, as it was featured in an Ipsy Bag once upon a time; however it was a travel size product, so needless to say, it was emptied in no time! Since receiving this mascara, I have literally used it non-stop. My lashes are naturally long, but lack thickness. This mascara not only enhances the length of my eyelashes but also gives them volume. I will say, err on the side of caution when applying – it can get clumpy, real quick.

Crown Brush – Deluxe Blush Brush
$12.00

“With super soft, dense synthetic bristles, this brush can be used with both powder and cream blushes, and provides medium to full coverage for a more dramatic finish.”

I love getting makeup brushes in my monthly subscriptions! Honestly, I will usually never purchase any makeup brushes that are not considered “drugstore”. So when I received them in my Boxycharm, and even Ipsy, the excitement is overwhelming. This blush brush is very dense and packs on the products, so I would you a light hand when applying. But I will go ahead and say, I am not planning on using this brush just for blush purposes. This brush could easily be used for contouring, or for applying concealer and foundation!

Bellapierre Cosmetics – Pro Concealer Palette
$29.00

“Bellapierre’s professional color correcting concealer palette is formulated with rich, creamy, good-for-your-skin ingredients helping create a flawless healthy complexion.”

I have yet to jump on the color correcting band-wagon, so the possibility of me actually using this product is pretty slim. Since I do not have dark circles and my skin is very light as it is, the only color corrector I would actually use would be for anti-redness. According to the Bellapierre website:

  • The Red Concealer can be used for any skin tone to cover blue-green imperfections such as severe under eye circles or bruising. Apply with a concealer brush to the desired area and blend with a clean finger or makeup sponge. Be sure to lightly apply a foundation on top to blend seamlessly with the rest of the face.
  • The Green Concealer can be used for any skin tone to cover red imperfections such as acne blemishes and rosacea. Apply with a concealer brush to the desired area and blend with a clean finger or makeup sponge. Be sure to lightly apply a foundation on top to blend seamlessly with the rest of the face.
  • The Lavender Concealer can be used for any skin tone to cover yellow or brown imperfections such as sallowness or hyper-pigmentation. Apply with a concealer brush to the desired area and blend with a clean finger or makeup sponge. Be sure to lightly apply a foundation on top to blend seamlessly with the rest of the face.

Real Her Blush Kit
$32.00

“Treat your cheeks to a instant natural glow with 3 shimmery tones.”

On my skin tone, both ‘Limitless’ and ‘Unstoppable’ are beautifully subtle and just enough of a pop to brighten up your face. There is a slight shimmer/sheen to all three shades, but more so in ‘Fearless’; Ironically, ‘Fearless’ is a bit of an intimidating shade, especially on my skin tone. I can imagine someone that has a deeper skin tone would wear ‘Fearless’ beautifully, but as for me, I think I’ll skip that one!

Pretty Vulgar – My Lips are sealed Lightweight Liquid Lipstick in
$24.00

“A highly pigmented liquid lipstick that provides a radiant metallic finish, nice comfortable creamy texture, and a citrus cordial flavor.”

I own a few metallic lipsticks, mainly from Colourpop, but have never had the opportunity to actually wear them. This liquid lipstick is very easy to apply and is not overly drying, like Colourpop’s liquid lipsticks tend to be. But do not be fooled by the swatch, as this shade is extremely bold and deepens a shade as it dries. I didn’t get that “citrus-cordial flavor” as it claims on their website, but maybe I had to leave it on a little longer to get the entire experience. Everything else aside, Pretty Vulgar’s packaging is to die for!?

The overall cost for this month’s box was at a grand total of: $120.00! Once again, that is insane considering I only paid $21.00 for the entire box, including shipping. Can’t beat that!

So leave me a comment below sharing what was your favorite product in this month’s box, and if you have not already, make sure to subscribe to my blog so you never miss a new post!

As always, thank you for stopping by and until next time….

Sincerely,

Lee.
