Review: Tarte’s Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

It’s been a little while since my last mascara review. I can tell because my mascara drawer is filled with mascara’s waiting to be reviewed; at least they haven’t been opened yet! I tend to hold on to mascara’s far past their expiration date and then wonder why the formula is dried up :/ Is anyone else that way with their mascara?

I received the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara in a Boxycharm a couple of months back, and actually received it in an Ipsy Bag maybe a year or so ago (probably when it first released). Unfortunately, it has taken me this long to finally sit down and review this mascara. I have worn this mascara several times, so this is not necessarily a first impression but instead more of a thorough review of the product. Before I get in to my thoughts and opinions on this mascara, let’s look into some of it’s claims!

According to Tarte’s website:

WHAT IT IS
“A jet-black, vegan mascara that has a molded brush that grabs & coats even the tiniest lashes for 2700% more volume.”

WHAT IT DOES
“Strengthens, conditions & gives high-impact volume & definition with triple-black mineral pigments & more good-for-you ingredients. The patented silicone mascara wand with multi-length bristles coat every lash for a longer & thicker look with one stroke.”

This mascara is also vegan-friendy, ophthalmologist & dermatologist tested, and safe for contact lens wearers. You can expect to pay the average high-end mascara retail price at a whopping $23.00.

I actually prefer mascara wands and bristles like this because of the different size bristles that help to coat each individual lash and because of it’s stiff, plastic wand that gives you extra control.

Like most volumizing mascara’s, the formula is very dry. This is great sometimes, but can be more of a pain as the day goes by. With almost every dry formula mascara, I have experienced flaking, eye irritation, and loss of length throughout the day. The mascara looks great for majority of the day, but if you have long lashes like myself, expect to have flakes on the tops of your cheeks and under your brow bone.

After 8 hours of wear.

Pro’s:

  • Provides Volume and Definition
  • Super Black Pigment
  • Vegan-Friendly

Con’s:

  • Dry Formula
  • Excessive Flaking
  • Price

Overall I think this mascara is great and I continue to reach for it every day. The only fault in this mascara, is the dry flakes you will enviably have by the end of the day. However, I do truly believe that this mascara is totally worth the flakes and I simply just brush them away! If you don’t mind the splurge, then I highly recommend.

As always, thank you for stopping by and until next time…

Sincerely,

Lee.
