Boxycharm Unboxing: August 2019

It feels like forever since I have posted an Unboxing! Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription service because you are always guaranteed more than $100.00 worth of products in every box and each box only cost $21.00! That’s a steal.

This month’s theme is ‘Totally’ and it’s totally awesome (pun intended).

Check out the products I got this month below! 🙂

ACE Beauté
Glimmer Shadow Duo // Shade: Iced Latte & Cotton Candy

“High pigmented soft shadows with a creamy texture specially designed for ultimate color pay-off; these shadows provide bold color in one swipe without fallout, creasing or fading.”

First Impression: We received an eyeshadow from this brand in a previous box, and the shadows were as equally pigmented as these individual shadows. I personally am not a huge fan of glittery or metallic shadows, which both of these are, but I do love these colors! Another variation of these shadows was a silver and magenta color, both beautiful but not very wearable on a day-to-day basis; so needless to say, I am happy that I received this variation instead of the latter. Honestly though, I am not sure how often I am going to be wearing these shadows; because they are individuals shadows instead of in a palette, I tend to forget to reach for them.

Becca Cosmetics
Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder

“This weightless powder sets and refreshes makeup for a silky smooth, invisible finish. Formulated with 50 percent water and glycerin, this powder creates a mist-like sensation on the skin, for a seamless finish and comfortable feel.”

First Impression: I was so excited when I found out that this product was going to be featured in this month’s box! Since this powder has been released, I have heard nothing but good reviews. It’s hard for me to reason with purchasing a $40.00 powder, but thanks to my subscription service, I don’t have to! I have worn this powder a couple of times so far with a few of my favorite foundations & BB creams, but can’t see a noticeable difference with its performance (stay tuned for an official review). BUT, the witch craft with this powder is REAL… The hydra-mist technology in this powder still has me in disbelief. When applied, this powder feels like your brush is wet and gives a cooling sensation. So far I give two thumbs-up just for being innovative!

Steve Laurant
Lip Liner // Shade: Chic

“Re-shape, re-size & re-define your pout. This lip pencil is total magic. It smooths over your lip line for a seamless and flawless finish. Completely waterproof, so no transferring or bleeding all day long. Lasts up to 7 hours.”

First Impression: Okay, firstly, let me just say… I don’t really reach for lip liners. Shocking, I know (especially in this world of over-drawn lips). But when I saw the color of this liner, I actually was excited, because it is so natural and can be layered with any lipstick shade. Unfortunately, wooden lip liners are not my thing. Mainly because they pull on the lips and are just too harsh in application, and this lip liner is no different. As well, $15.00 seems a little high for a lip liner… amiright?? Especially when the drugstore has comparable shades, at a lower cost.

Wander Beauty
Glow Ahead Illuminating Oil

“Our on-the-go skincare essential is a multitasking beauty elixir that instantly hydrates and absorbs into the skin revealing a bouncy, youthful complexion, no matter your skin type. This lightweight, yet powerful blend, is formulated to deeply nourish and prime the skin before makeup and to refresh while on-the-go. The innovative spill-proof Wander Dropper is always travel-ready, giving you total control one drop at a time. Our blend of age-defying oils helps to restore skin’s moisture barrier while giving you a youthful glow.”

First Impression: Initially, I was turned off from this priming oil. I have very oily skin, especially during this miserable season (it’s literally 93° in Georgia), and oil on oil doesn’t sound too pleasant. But to my surprise, this priming oil is pretty wearable, considering the variables at hand. That’s not to say that my foundation doesn’t slip right off my face, but it does give me a nice starting base to apply a light BB cream & concealer for my no-makeup makeup days. I’m excited to give this product a try during the colder months!

Big Ego Mascara

“Tarte Big Ego Mascara: An ultra-black, vegan mascara that lifts your lashes and delivers a fully-loaded flutter for up to 16 hours.”

First Impression: This mascara is comparable to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. The wand shape helps great that false lash effect & adds a good bit of length to the lashes as well.  I haven’t noticed any flakes/fall out with this mascara, which, if you have oily skin, you know the struggle. The combination I’ve been liking so far with this mascara is applying this first, then topping it off with L’oreal’s Original Telescopic Lengthening mascara!
