Can someone please slow down time… It’s moving a little too fast for me 😥 We literally just brought in the New Year, and now we’re already saying goodbye to January. Where does the time go??
To reflect on January of 2020 and all it’s glory, today I am sharing with you some of my favorite (and some not so favorite) products I discovered or fell back in love with this month. Luckily, I have quite a few favorites on my list & only one not-so-favorite product to share! It’s always a good day when the glass is half full 🙂

So to start off on a positive note, my number one favorite for the month of January was from SOL Body!
SOL Body Sunless Gradual Tanning Lotion $16.00

Unlike Jergens or my previously beloved Isle of Paradise Tanless Water, the sunless gradual tanner from SOL Body has quick results & last on the skin. It appears like a regular lotion, so there is no color-guard, which can be an issue for some. I am always timid around my hands, feet, and elbows, so I haven’t had a issue with streaks or over applying product in those areas. I bought both shades, fair to light & medium to deep. I am currently using the shade fair to light while it is still winter, and will switch to the deeper shade when the weather starts to warm up. My only qualm with this product is that there is not a shade inbetween the two shades they carry, such as light to medium would be nice. I’ve saved the best part for last though… the scent. This tanning lotion smells identical to the Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream ❤ Tropical, yet sultry.
NCLA Cuticle Oil $18.00

I received this cuticle oil in a past Boxycharm, and honestly forgot about it until recently going through my nail polish drawer. During the winter months, I am constantly applying hand lotion to help alleviate my dry hands, but sometimes my lotions aren’t as intensive as I need for them to be. So in addition to my Aveda Hand Relief lotion, I use this cuticle oil every night not only around my nails but basically all over my hands too! It is extremely nourishing & doesn’t sink into the skin so quickly. The scent that I own is in Lollipop Lollipop, which basically smells like a delicious vanilla bean dessert, but is sadly no longer available on NCLA’s website. The scent that is the most similar to Lollipop Lollipop would be Peach Vanilla, based on the description alone.
Thrive Causemetics Buildable Blur CC Cream $38.00

This may not come as much of a surprise if you follow my blog. I recently did a wear test & review on this CC Cream & fell in love with the results! It’s perfect for the winter months when my skin isn’t so oily and is leaning more toward combo-skin. It’s a lightweight, healthy cc cream that provides enough coverage for me at my 9 to 5, yet blurs the look of my pores & fine lines. My only grievance, if any, is the shade that I purchased. I bought the shade Light, which is described on Thrive’s website as having neutral undertones, which is usually a shade match for me but was unfortunately a shade too dark. When I do repurchase this cc cream in the future, I will get the shade that is one shade lighter in the collection, called Fair Light (which also has neutral undertones).
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer $30.00

I first want to preface this by saying no concealer is worth $30.00… in my humble opinion. I bought this concealer a couple of months back at my local TJ Maxx, which came in a set of 2 for $10.00. Now, that price is worth it. Since December, I have been gravitating toward this concealer nearly every single day. I found that it doesn’t emphasize any crepey-ness under my eyes & gives a radiance that helps the eyes look more awake. For my skin type, I do have to set this with a loose powder, but if your skin is more on the combo to dry-side, you might prefer to leave it unset. Either way, this concealer is beautiful on any skin type & I will be devastated the day I finally use it up 😦 Obviously I’m not going to purchase it at full price; however, I will snag it if it’s at TJ Maxx or Marshalls again in the future!
And for the unfortunate product that didn’t work out so well for me this past month…
Colourpop No Filter Foundation $12.00

It’s unfortunate, because I love this brand so much! Their concealers, highlights, bronzers, super shock shadows, & eyeshadow palettes are honestly some of my all-time favorites! However, the No Filter Matte Foundation wore terribly on my skin. Perhaps it was my primer, or my setting powder, or even because of the winter season, but, I’m debating whether it’s even worth it or not to go through the trial & error process just to make this foundation work. I go into much more detail on the many reasons why I dislike this foundation on my recent wear test & review, so go check that out if you are interested. I will keep it in my collection & might try it out again in the future, if I am brave enough…
So that’s it for my favorites & fails for January. I’m happy that I only had one dud this month 🙂 What products have you been loving this past month? Let me know down below!
Sincerely,
Lee.
