BareMinerals was one of the first high-end makeup brands that I was introduced to growing up. I remember my grandmother would always wear the Original Loose Powder Foundation, which was an everyday staple for her. BareMinerals is one of those brands that I have always trusted to be all-natural & clean and never over the top.
On BareMinerals’ website, the Strength & Length Serum-Infused Mascara is marketed as a “breakthrough lengthening mascara” that’s infused with a plant-based serum and apparently has been proven to deliver “visibly longer, fuller, and stronger lashes with less fallout”. The lash serum is vegan-friendly and is made of red clover flower and peptides, which helps to strengthen the lashes and reduce fallout. Like all of BareMinerals products, this mascara doesn’t have any additives, harsh ingredients or hormones, is safe and gentle on the eyes, and is cruelty-free.
What I found to be the most interesting about this mascara is the wand itself! The inspiration for the bristles and wand shape comes from paddle hair brushes. The paddle shape and plastic bristles helps to lengthen, lift, and define lashes.
Some of the claims for this mascara are longer & fuller lashes in 8 weeks, long-wearing, smudge-proof, flake-proof, & clump-proof… basically everything proof!
The price of this mascara is $22.00, which can be expected for a high-end mascara, and comes in the standard 8 ml/0.27 fl. oz tube.
This mascara is a bit tricky at first and took me a few times to figure out a way to make it work. Since it’s not like other ordinary mascaras, you really can’t just chunk it on or be reckless in the application.
I found that the blinking-method works great when applying this mascara. Because the paddle is flat, when you push the wand through your lashes as you blink, the mascara evenly distributes itself onto each individual lash. In order to get a good length on the lashes, I have found that turning the wand (so that you are applying the mascara with the edge of the paddle) gives a little extra touch without applying too much product at once.
I have now worn this mascara for 4 days and have finally mastered the application. I would agree that this mascara is long-wearing, smudge-proof, flake-proof, and clump-proof. I didn’t find the mascara to be difficult in removing with my facial cleanser at the end of the day. The formula is wet enough to pair well with other mascara to make a cocktail of sorts, but is wet enough to be a bad idea on the lower lashes, especially if you have spidery lashes like me. The only claim that I can’t attest to is the 8 week claim for fuller, longer lashes. I have put this mascara in my everyday makeup drawer, so I may be able to give a proper update on the 8 week progress if there is any noticeable difference.
Overall, I think this mascara truly does lengthen and separate my lashes beautifully and I would highly recommend if you are in the market for a lengthening mascara!
